Re-opening Update
The Seaside Hand Tinning (formerly Southwest Hand Tinning) workshop has a new Cape Cod home! We’ve passed our preliminary electrical inspection, walls are back up, and flooring is in. Next comes paint, new outlets and fixtures, and final inspection. I’m truly appreciative of everyone’s patience and hope to start scheduling restorations Q1 2025. Please check back for updates.
Welcome
Seaside Hand Tinning employs traditional techniques to bring tin-lined copper cookware back to life with an emphasis on the conservative restoration of antique, vintage, and heirloom pieces. I’ve been hand wiping tin since 2016 and have returned beauty and functionality to thousands of tin-lined copper pans owned by chefs, cooks, and collectors.
Notable restorations include cookware with provenance attributed to:
King Louis‑Philippe of France • Prince Louis of Orléans (le Deuxième Fils) • Gaston of Orléans the Count of Eu • Prince Don Carlos of Bourbon-Two Sicilies • Hugh Lupus Grosvenor the 1st Duke of Westminster • Charles Chetwynd-Talbot the 20th Earl of Shrewsbury • Alfred Charles de Rothschild • Princess Agnes of Anhalt‑Dessau
Location & Cost
The application of hand-wiped tin will be performed in my new Brewster, MA workshop beginning Spring 2025. Restoration fees are based on condition and size (diameter and height) of the pan. New tin for most saucepans runs in the $70‑$100 range and includes polishing. Please contact me at: info@handtinning.com with pictures and measurements if you would like a quote or more information.
